Colors of fighting cancer

Cancer has an extensive reach, with its various forms and the many parts of the body it can invade.

It also touches just about everyone in some way, either personally or second-hand.

That is why The Republic publishes “Colors for a Cure,” our cancer awareness section, each October.

We wanted to share the stories of people who are battling cancer or have survived it to inform our readers about different types of cancer, and offer valuable information in addition to hope and inspiration.

Our intent also is for the section to be useful. Information about cancer services offered at three local hospitals is included.

We’ve included information about Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, because the reality is not all cancer stories have happy endings. Our Hospice focuses on end-of-life care.

We hope that you will find the personal stories and other information valuable and useful personally or for others who are fighting cancer or have survived it.
