Ruth Anna Maddux, 90, of Westport, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg. She was born July 2, 1925, in Fortville, the daughter of Kenneth and Nell (Plummer) Torrance.

She graduated from Fortville High School in 1943 and moved to Westport in March of 1955. Ruth Anna had worked at Delco Remy, Standard Oil and Maddux Drug Store. She attended Westport Baptist Church, was a charter member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Zeta Nu Chapter, North Vernon Order of Eastern Star No. 183 and the Canasta Club.

She enjoyed talking with her friends, crocheting, crafts, traveling, sewing and playing cards.

She married Richard A. Maddux at Fortville Methodist Church April 17, 1949, and he preceded her in death October 26, 2014.

Survivors include her sons, Daryl (Connie) Maddux of Scipio, Terry (Kay) Maddux of Paducah, Kentucky, and Jay Maddux of Westport; her eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Robert “Bud” Torrance; and grandsons, Bradley Maddux and Joshua Maddux.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with the Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at  Westport Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Westport Volunteer Fire Department, Westport Baptist Church or Our Hospice of Decatur County.
