Bernice Lenora Hull, 83, of Columbus, formerly of Hope, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015. The daughter of Jennie Mabel (Jayne) and Ora George Andrews, she was born in St. Louis Crossing on August 24, 1932. She married Gene Hull in Guilford, Indiana, on July 25, 1959, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009 prior to his death in 2010.

A member of St. George Lutheran Church for the past ten years, she was a lifelong worker for Christ, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and serving on numerous committees. She was an ace euchre player and loved crossword puzzles, reading, and being outdoors. She was the first woman to serve on the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Board and was a volunteer for Reach for Recovery and Columbus Regional Hospital. She had a successful career in bookkeeping, working for Union Starch, Dr. John D. Harker, the Heritage Foundation and the Sprague Company.

Her legacy is her devotion to her family. From preparing delicious meals, to picking just the right gifts, to trimming the tree with the grandchildren, to Skipbo, Phase 10 and Rummikub competitions, she made every holiday special. She shared her love of the beach with her family on trips to Myrtle Beach.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with the Rev. Jerry Castleman officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

She is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Floyd) Rutan of Brentwood, Tennessee, Jennie (Charlie) Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Laura Hurt of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Jarrod (Kristy) Rutan of Columbus, Indiana, Jessica (Joshua) Hendricks of St, Louis, Missour, Kathryn (Craig) McMillen of Scottsdale, Arizona, Adam Rutan of Chicago, Illinois, Joseph Hull of Erlanger, Kentucky, and Trevor Hull of Independence, Kentucky; great-granchildren, Tori (Jonathan) Vailes of Columbus, Indiana, Logan Rutan of Indianapolis, Indiana, Emma Hull of Nashville, Tennessee, and Stella, Graham and Mia Hendricks of St. Louis, Missouri; and siblings, Howard (Maribell) Andrews, Helen (Norman) Wallace and Maxine Bumbalough, all of Columbus, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Frank Hull; brothers, Homer Dale Andrews and James F. Andrews; and a sister, Julia Cook.
