5 arrested, several on drug charges

Members of the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team in Bartholomew County arrested five people Tuesday after serving a search warrant at 3385 Virginia St. on the city’s northeast side.

Arrested were:

Clorissa J. Clemmons, 34, Hope, on charges of dealing in methamphetamine, dealing in heroin, visiting a common nuisance and possession of an injection device. She is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of a $156,000 bond.

Daniel J. Butler, 55, 3385 Virginia St., on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $65,000 bond.

Robert F. Johnson, 44, 3385 Virginia St., on a charge of maintaining a common nuisance, held at the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bond.

Melinda K. Caudill, 38, Madison, on charges of visiting a common nuisance and a parole warrant, held at the Bartholomew County Jail with no bond.

Levi W. Underwood, 24, no street address available, Columbus, on charges of visiting a common nuisance and possession of an injection device, held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $12,500 bond.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department reported that additional items located during the search included about 14 grams of methamphetamine, about 4 grams of heroin, numerous other controlled substances, multiple syringes and paraphernalia and other narcotics-related items.

The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team is a collaborative effort that includes the sheriff’s department, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office.
