Harold W. Gilliland, 92, of Hope, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

He was retired from being a Dairy Farmer and working for Hunger for Harvestors.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hope.

Harold was proud of his service to the U.S. Army. About two years ago, he was chosen to go on the Indy Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

He loved fishing, I.U. Basketball, Pacers, gardening and woodworking.

Harold’s funeral will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Mark Walker officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites, conducted by Barth. Co. Veteran’s Honor Guard, will follow service at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Born Oct. 29, 1923, in Hope, Harold was the son of Walter J. and LaVerne Gilmore Gilliland. He married Lucille Giles May 23, 1968, and she survives.

Other survivors include children, Nancy Berkenstock of Hartsville, Joyce (Steve) Garrison, Donald (Kim) Gilliland and Lisa (Tony) Garrison, all of Columbus, Gail (Rick) Wilson of Hope, Karen (Larry) Love of Columbus and Carla (Rick) Emmitt of Hope; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Norma (Merrill) Clouse of Hope and Dr. John (Nancy) Gilliland of Franklin and several nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by sons, Gregg Lyle and Wayne Edward.
