David T. Lewis Jr., of Paris Crossing, IN, departed this life on April 27, 2024, at his cherished home, surrounded by the warmth of his family’s love. He was born on March 22, 1956, in Manchester, KY (Clay County), and at the tender age of 68, he bid farewell to this world at 7:27 AM.
David was a man of unwavering dedication and commitment. His life’s journey was adorned with hard work and profound love for his family. From the bustling halls of Cummins, where he diligently toiled from 1976 until his well-deserved retirement in 2021, to his endeavors at OW Howell Construction and SEI Communications, David’s work ethic was unparalleled. His dedication earned him not just professional respect but also countless friendships that he cherished dearly.
On March 2, 1974, David embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship as he exchanged vows with his beloved Brenda Sue “Susie” (Brock) Lewis at the sacred grounds of Coffee Creek Christian Church. Their bond was not just one of marriage but a testament to enduring love and unwavering support.
A man of many passions, David found solace in the simple pleasures of life. Whether casting his line into the serene waters or exploring the quaint charm of Amish communities, his heart was always brimming with joy. He was a connoisseur of the hidden treasures found in flea markets, his eyes twinkling with excitement at each discovery. Yet, amidst his love for exploration, David’s dedication to his work was unwavering. It took gentle nudges from Susie to remind him of the importance of rest, for he was truly a workaholic at heart.
In his moments of leisure, David found contentment in the gentle hum of his tractor and the rhythmic dance of the bushhog. These were the moments where he felt closest to nature, where the worries of the world melted away, and peace enveloped his soul.
David’s memory will be honored and cherished by his loving wife, Susie, his devoted family, and a multitude of friends. He was a proud member of Broadway Pentecostal Church in Austin, IN, where his faith found deep roots, and Masonic Lodge #13 in Brownstown, IN, where his fraternal bonds were forged.
David’s legacy extends beyond the realms of his professional achievements and hobbies; it resides in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a pillar of strength, a beacon of love, and a shining example of what it means to be a devoted family man.
Survivors include his loving wife Brenda Sue “Susie” (Brock) Lewis of Paris Crossing, IN, 2 children Dilana Lee Lewis of Seymour, IN, Michael David (Kristina) Lewis of Crothersville, IN, 8 grandchildren Aaron, Carina (Geovany), Haley, Reygan, Preston, Dominick, Krista, Kya, 2 great grandchildren Kenneth and Jareth, brother Doug (Lisa) Lewis of Paris Crossing, IN, and sister-in-law Patty Lewis of Paris Crossing, IN, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Jefferson “T.J.” and Novella (Hacker) Lewis, 1 sister Donna Lewis, brother Donnie Lewis, and niece Tammy (Metz) Lewis.
Pastor John Bowling and Richard Jones will lead the funeral services at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Broadway Pentecostal Church in Austin, IN.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 30 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Crothersville, In and on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from Noon until 1:00 PM at Broadway Pentecostal Church in Austin, IN.
