Carolyn June (Newton) Wisdom, 79, of Columbus, Indiana passed away on April 22, 2024, in Florence, Alabama. She was born on May 6, 1944, in Bonnertown, Tennessee. Carolyn was a beloved mother, mamaw, and sister, known for her warm and welcoming nature.

Carolyn was a hard worker and had many jobs over the years doing construction and factory work. She also worked at Reed’s Liquor Store and finally retired from Mariah Foods. She became a friend to all co-workers.

Carolyn had a playful disposition that welcomed all with open arms, she was Mom and Mamaw Wisdom to many and she loved each and everyone in her life. She enjoyed cooking for others. She was well known for her delicious pecan pies and pecan pie muffins. The past few years she loved showing up to get togethers with her pecan pie muffins to share and enjoyed hearing everyone’s excitement over them.

An avid sports fan, Carolyn enjoyed watching her grandkids and great grandkids play sports, as well as following NASCAR and college sports, especially Alabama football.

Carolyn’s family meant everything to her. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Mewbourn and Cheree Johnson (Mike), grandchildren, Emily Shipley (Jordan), Courtney Johnson (Jared Musick), Bradley Johnson (Kaylene Fields), and great-grandchildren, Kenyon and Kaia Shipley, Asher Moody and Isla Musick, brothers CH Newton (Faye) of Rogersville, AL, and Adrien Newton (Carolyn) of Maryville, TN. Along with numerous other family members.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Carthel and Ruby Newton, husbands, Larry Mewbourn and ‘Willy’ Wisdom, brother, Donnie Newton, and niece, Hillary Newton.

A celebration of life will be held at FOP Lodge #89 in Columbus, Indiana on Sunday, May 5th, 12-5pm, a short service will be held at 1pm for those that would like to attend, the

family welcomes friends and family for fellowship and food until 5pm.

A graveside service and celebration of life will take place at a later date in Grassy, AL. Carolyn will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
