Olympians blank Pirates
The Columbus East girls tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak with a 5-0 shutout of visiting Greensburg on Monday.
Megna Chari blanked Kelly Meyer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Adycin Rager beat Mackenzie Kovacich 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Alaysha Pollert downed Martina Kramer 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (2-5).
Kendall Gerken and Esta Morrison topped Abigail Bailey and Elaine Welage 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6) at No. 1 doubles. Maddy Rhodes and Carol Travis beat Alli Overstock and Kirsten Fong 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
“This is probably the most complete match they’ve played,” East coach Matt Malinsky said. “One, 2 and 3 singles were all very solid, and then No. 2 doubles, which has been a weakness for us this year as far as wins go, put it together tonight. They looked pretty sharp out there.”
Jets notch first win of season
MORRISTOWN — Hauser picked up its first win of the season, a 4-1 Mid-Hoosier Conference decision at Morristown.
Alana Owen beat Mackenzie Logan 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Madie Sherman downed Hailey Dunham 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles for the Jets (1-2, 1-1). Annie Ashbrook and Sarah Tedder topped Grace Young and Patience Wood 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Natalie Taylor and Tannyr Davis beat Carly Shortridge and Victoria Phillips 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Maycie Asher lost to Alayna Munson 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 at No. 1 singles.
Edinburgh nips Spartans
SHELBYVILLE — Edinburgh swept the singles matches in a 3-2 MHC win at Southwestern (Shelby).
Vanessa Hoskins beat Katelyn Clark 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Lillie Parmer blanked Vanessa Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Allie Schooler shut out Jenna Kutz 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Lancers.
Emma Westerfeld and Meghan Collett fell to Morgan Brockman and Brenna Jackson 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Hannah Gosman and Sydney Schlotter lost to Kayla Leer and Abby Sweet def. 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Brown County edges Braves
NASHVILLE — Brown County won three matches in straight sets to pull out a 3-2 win against Brownstown Central.
Elisabeth Huls beat Claudia Sibrel 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, Ashley Pugh downed Miranda McCluskey 7-5, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, and Sarah Barrick and Jacey Ferguson topped Jordan Trowbridge and Bridget Hall 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles for the Lancers.
Hallee Miller fell to Laken Reynolds 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Baelyn Koester and Kiera Omberg lost to Sydney Cockerham and Maddy Jones 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Hauser stays undefeated
HOPE — Class A No. 2 Hauser remained undefeated with a 13-0, five-inning win against Triton Central.
Tessa Sims struck out all nine batters she faced in her three innings of pitching for the Jets (8-0). Kali Schumacher allowed one hit over the final two frames.
Hailey Lange went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, and Leslie Sims went 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Taylor Henderson went 2 for 2, Sidney Giles went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Tessa Sims had two RBIs.
TRACK AND FIELD
Jets finish fourth in quad meet
WALDRON — Hauser’s boys and girls both finished fourth in a quad meet at Waldron.
New Palestine won the boys meet with 121 points, while Triton Central scored 48 and Waldron edged the Jets 30-29 for third. New Pal took the girls meet with 98 points to 47 for Waldron, 46 for Triton Central and 36 for Hauser.
Grace Hasler led the Hauser girls with wins in the 100-meter hurdles (16.4 seconds) and 300 hurdles (49.6). Erin Newcomb took the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches), and Brea Metz captured the shot put (35-6).
The lone win for the boys came from Pete Trotter in the discus (128-4).

Brownstown Central tops Eagles
BROWNSTOWN — Brownstown Central claimed a 168-175 win against Brown County at Hickory Hills.
Aubrey Seaman tied for medalist honors with a 39 to lead the Eagles. Parker VanNess 42, Jake Dixon 46, Wes Weigel 48, Gavin Brown 51, Tyler Poling 60, Ben Rygiel 63 and Jacob Ford 66.
