A semitrailer crash on Interstate 65 just south of State Road 11 left the interstate closed for nearly two hours Thursday morning as crews cleaned up the debris.
Sheriff Michael Carothers said the one-vehicle wreck, reported at 6:49 a.m. Thursday, involved a tanker hauling nitrogen. The interstate reopened shortly before 9 a.m.
“A little liquid nitrogen was released, but it was just a bleed off,” Carothers said.
Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police said traffic was backed up at least three miles because of the wreck. Motorists were advised to exit at 64 or 68 mile marker and use State Road 11 or U.S. 31 as a detour.
