BUTLERVILLE — A North Vernon resident died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 50 near County Road 400N in Jennings County at about 8 a.m. Thursday.
Indiana State Police Trooper Jacob Tolle said a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Christian B. Nolan, 25, of North Vernon, was traveling east on U.S. 50 when it left the south side of the road for an unknown reason.
The vehicle went airborne, ejecting Nolan from the vehicle, Tolle said. The vehicle then hit an embankment and rolled before stopping, Tolle said.
The Jennings County Coroner’s office pronounced Nolan dead at the scene. Indiana State Police do not believe he was wearing a seat belt, Tolle said.
The eastbound lanes of U.S. 50 were closed for about three hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
