Residents along Rocky Ford Road who sold rights-of-way to the city complained about what they deemed an excessive number of trees being cut down to accommodate the widening of the road from two to four lanes.

Columbus Township Trustee Norval Arnholt set up his office in the lobby of Bartholomew County Courthouse after his office in the Belvedere Hotel was destroyed in the fire that burned the hotel to the ground.
