2014

Nearly 40 students from Columbus high schools attended the annual Indiana HOSA Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference in Indianapolis. The students attended leadership training, business meetings, educational symposiums and voted as delegates to elect state officers.

1999

Su Casa, a facility created to provide education to Latino people in the community, opened next to Sans Souci on State Street. The center was the result of efforts by a group of about 35 people from area churches and businesses.

1974

Representatives from Columbus East High School returned home from Terre Haute with a first place win in the first State High School Power Technology Contest sponsored by Indiana State University’s School of Technology in Terre Haute. The win was the second state championship earned over the weekend by Columbus auto mechanics students.
