2014

Columbus was a finalist for the National Civic League’s All-America City awards, which could have raised the city’s profile and provided a boost to the economy. The awards are presented annually to 10 communities for outstanding civic accomplishments.

1999

Columbus’ Chrissy Woszczynski won first place in the Cincinnati Indoor Dance Fest. She earned the top honor in the intermediate 15 and under category of the highland dance competition.

1974

Keith A. Fulp and Ben Kleffman, Columbus North High School students, took first place in the 1974 state Plymouth Trouble-Shooting Contest at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. To win, students had to successfully complete a written exam, locate malfunctions that were placed in automobiles, then set the cars up exactly to the manufacturers’ specifications.
