Dave Lee Duncan, 70, of Columbus, died as a result of a traffic accident at 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.

Dave graduated from Columbus High School in 1964. He was a member of the Indiana National Guard from January 1966 until December 1971. Dave retired in 1997 from Cummins Engine Company where he had worked for 30 years. He loved watching sports, especially I.U. and Pacers basketball and the Colts. He enjoyed woodworking and bowling with the church league team on Monday nights. He was a long-time softball coach of the Baker’s Dozen girl’s county league team and helped his children with 4-H woodworking projects when they were young. Dave adored his four grandchildren and attended as much of their events as he could.

Dave was born May 16, 1946, in Columbus to Tom and Evelyn Eickbush Duncan.

He married Diane S. Lienhoop November 19, 1965.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with the Rev. Patrick Galligar officiating. Family and friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

The family request that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years; and his children, Damon (ViLaura) Duncan of Columbus and Dawn (John) Boerger of Irwin, Ohio. He was Pop Pop to Grace and Thomas Boerger of Irwin, Ohio and Pop to Denton and Derika Duncan of Columbus. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Carl) Kestler and Joyce (John) Shireman; his mother-in-law, Wynona (Woods) Lienhoop; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Evelyn Duncan; his father-in-law, Gene Lienhoop; his sister-in-law, Jenny McDaniel; and his nephew Michael McDaniel.
