Community Corrections and police officers checking on a local man on home detention arrested him on drug-related charges, including dealing in heroin.
Community Corrections officers were checking on the home of Shane M. Medaris, 29, of 3222 Washington St., at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday when they told Columbus police they had found what was believed to be narcotics inside a home in the 3200 block of Washington Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Columbus police officers determined the substance that was found in the home was heroin, Harris said.
After Medaris was arrested, officers found three capped syringes, a small amount of methamphetamine and more than $3,700 in currency inside a bag that Medaris had in one of his pants pockets, Harris said. Officers found more than 7 grams of heroin inside the home, Harris said.
Medaris was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing in heroin, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe, Harris said.
Medaris is being held without bond at the Bartholomew County Jail, jail officials said.
