Organizers are hoping for a big turnout Saturday for a variety show fundraiser to assist Columbus native Andrew Heimann.
Admission to the Mill Race Center event, which starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, is free. However, attendees will have a chance to donate to help Andrew Heimann and his parents, Stephen and Ann Heimann, with medical expenses not covered by insurance.
Andrew Heimann, 38, has been undergoing treatment for Grade IV glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer, an aggressive illness. Due to his illness, Heimann has been unable to work in his private practice as an acupuncture specialist in Miami, Florida. Andrew Heimann’s medical and general care expenses have run about $15,000 a month.
Local actress and dancer Charlotte Battin of Charlotte Battin Productions organized the event at Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St. in Columbus. It will include music, dance and comedy, featuring area performers.
One donor has offered to match donations dollar-for-dollar.
