Meetings scheduled for dual-language program

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. will have two meetings to provide information about a new dual-language immersion program being offered next fall at Clifty Creek Elementary School.

The meetings will be at 6 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at the school, 4625 E. County Road 50N.

The dual-language immersion program places pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students in a bilingual program. Half of the students will be native Spanish speakers and the other half native English speakers.

Two classes will be offered at Clifty Creek, one with 40 pre-kindergarten students and the other with 26 to 28 kindergarten students, said Laura Hack, BCSC director of elementary education.

The school district will begin accepting applications for the program starting Dec. 1, continuing through Feb. 5. Students invited to participate will be notified by Feb. 9.
