Columbus police arrested a local man on weapons charges after he was observed at his job with a handgun.
Police were sent at 1 p.m. Tuesday to the business in the 1300 block of Indiana Avenue, where they recovered the weapon, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
Officers located the individual, Kenneth D. Wood, 52, at his residence, 626 Hutchins Ave., Harris said.
Officers confirmed Wood did not have a permit for the weapon, and he was arrested on charges of carrying a handgun without a license, possession of a handgun with an obliterated serial number and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, Harris said.
When officers confiscated the weapon, they noticed the serial numbers had been scraped off the handgun, Harris said.
Wood was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $60,000 bond, jail officials said.
