Columbus opens residential rental property registration

The city of Columbus has opened registration for landlords to for the Residential Rental Registration ordinance which was approved earlier this month.

All residential rental property within the city limits must be registered with the city’s Department of Community Development by May 1.

The purpose of the registration is to provide contact information of the residential rental property owner and/or his agent to provide an efficient and timely system of communication about issues such as fire, safety, law enforcement and code enforcement.

The city’s Department of Community Development has registration applications available in hard copy at City Hall, 123 Washington St.

All applications need to be accompanied with a $5 fee per parcel of residential rental property being registered.
