Water break leaves 650 without service in Bartholomew, Brown counties

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A water break Saturday night off State 46 has resulted in an outage for about 650 customers of Southwestern Bartholomew Water Corp. in Brown and Bartholomew counties.

Water in the affected areas will be off until about 3 p.m. Sunday, said Kathy Ford, the Columbus-based utility’s office manager.

Locations that are affected:

  • State Road 46 west of the Stoney Lonesome area into Brown County
  • Nelson Ridge Road, Dobbs Cemetery Road
  • Georgetown Road, Lost Lake
  • Baker Hollow Road
  • Four Mile Ridge Road
  • All of Henderson Ridge and Henderson Heights
  • Hoover Road
  • Lucas Hollow Road
  • Harrison Ridge Road
  • Mt. Liberty Road
  • Bethany Road
  • Youth Camp Road in the Bethany area
  • Whitehorse Road
  • 850 West Bethany area, all other roads in the Bethany area

Once water service is returned, customers may experience air in their water lines and dirty water, Ford said. As a result, a boil-water advisory will be in effect until noon Wednesday for the same customers. Customers should bring water to a full boil for five minutes before consumption or use in cooking and food preparation, she said.
