North boys prevail

SHELBYVILLE — Columbus North’s boys won a tri meet Tuesday at Shelbyville, while the Bull Dog girls took second.

The North boys scored 85 1/2 points to 51 1/2 for East Central and 29 for Shelbville. East Central won the girls meet with 87 points to 41 for the Bull Dogs and 35 for Shelbyville.

Winners for the North boys were Luke Riley in the long jump (18 feet, 3 3/4 inches), Logan Abbott in the shot put (46-4), Ben Malone in the 110-meter hurdles (14.8 seconds), Damon Hunter Jr. in the 100 (11.1), Colin Pruitt in the 1,600 (4:45.5), Nash Johnson in the 300 hurdles (42.3), Hunter Spalding in the 200 (23.1) and John Sluys in the 3,200 (9:56.6). The Bull Dogs also won the 4×100 (43.3) and 4×400 (3:33.8) relays.

Adrienne Salemme won the pole vault (10-0), and Aric Tong took the 3,200 (12:39.0) to lead the North girls.

Hauser boys second

BATESVILLE — Hauser’s boys finished second, and the girls took third in a quad meet at Batesville. Only running events were contested because of wetness in the field event areas.

Batesville won the boys meet with 80 points to 33 for the Jets, 27 for Jac-Cen-Del and 24 for North Decatur. Batesville’s girls scored 67 points to 50 for North Decatur, 39 for Hauser and 10 for Jac-Cen-Del.

David Seelye had the lone win for the Jet boys, taking the 3,200 in 10:53. Grace Hasler won the girls 100 hurdles (15.8), 100 (13.0) and 300 hurdles (47.7).

Bull Dogs finish second

Columbus North hosted two of the state’s top teams and finished second in a tri match at Harrison Lake Country Club.

No. 5 Zionsville won with a 294. The Bull Dogs finished second with a 309, and No. 6 Bedford North Lawrence was third with a 320.

Drew Smith led Columbus North with a 73. Henry Kiel carded a 76, Jackson Kerber and Luke VanDeventer each shot 80, Reese Moore added an 85 and Jacob Niedbaksli had an 88.

Cougars take tri match

EDINBURGH — Trinity Lutheran finished first, and Edinburgh took third in a tri match at Timbergate. The Cougars shot 164 to 179 for Beech Grove and 237 for the Lancers.

Mark Shoemaker led Trinity with a 40, Ryland Nierman and Josiah Foster each shot 41, Jacob Keith added a 42 and Noah Criswell had a 44.

Bladen Hancock led Edinburgh with a 40. Zach Burton carded a 62, Noah Childers added a 65 and Darius Bennett had a 70.
