North overpowers Cardinals

INDIANAPOLIS — Jakob Meyer threw a two-hitter and struck out 17 Wednesday night to lead Class 4A No. 7 Columbus North to a 3-0, eight-inning Conference Indiana win at Southport.

The game was scoreless through seven innings. The Bull Dogs (11-3, 3-1) got on the board in the eighth when two runs scored on a throwing error off a Tyler Finke roller. Grant Trinkle then provided an RBI-single to make it 3-0.

Braves top Eagles

TRAFALGAR — Indian Creek limited Brown County to two hits — singles by Grant Suding and Isaiah Luenebrink — in an 11-1, six-inning WIC win.

The Eagles (4-9, 2-2) did pick up a conference win, however, when it was determined that Cascade had to forfeit after using an ineligible player in a 3-1 April 7 win at Brown County.

Bull Dogs blank Pirates

GREENSBURG — No. 14 Columbus North dropped only eight games in the five matches in rolling to a 5-0 win at Greensburg.

Yijiang Zhao beat Reagan Rigney 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Shweta Srinivasan downed Bailey Menkecick 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Jaline Tay topped Elle Acra 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (7-2).

North’s Madelyn Sanders and Eva Chevalier beat Kristen Fong and Claudia Westhaver 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Ali Bergman and Servane Cloteaux downed Emma Hellmich and Sarah Schneider 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

East sweeps Edinburgh

EDINBURGH — Columbus East lost only seven games in its 5-0 win at Edinburgh.

Louna Prince beat Haley Jones 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Olympians (4-4). Jenna Shoaf blanked Bri Tollman at No. 2 singles, and Auana Nomura downed Paige Johnson at No. 3 singles, both by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

East’s Megna Chari and Kathryn Hodzen beat Haven Link and Destiney Ramey 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Maddy Rhodes and Emie Kiser topped Annelise Lollar and Katie Roberts 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Jets topple Trinity

HOPE — Hauser won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 win against Trinity Lutheran.

Alana Owen beat Courtney Barker 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles, and Madie Sherman downed Abby Schult 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for the Jets (5-1). Hauser’s Abby Johnson and Sarah Tedder topped Macey Prewitt and Lauren Fleetwood 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Kylie Lock and Melanie Taylor beat Casssidy Burnside and Katelyn Mensendiek 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

The win for the Cougars (3-3) came at No. 3 singles, where Lauren Voss topped Maddy Archer 6-4, 6-2.

Eagles down Braves

TRAFALGAR — Brown County pounded out 13 hits in an 8-3 Western Indiana Conference win at Indian Creek.

Allison Stogsdill went 3 for 4, and Myka Snyder went 2 for 3 with a double for the Eagles (8-2, 3-1). Emma Summers threw a six-hitter and went 2 for 4, and Aubrey Hollander went 2 for 4.
