Bull Dogs down Patriots

Columbus North clinched at least third place in Conference Indiana with a 4-1 win against Terre Haute North on Friday.

Yijiang Zhao beat Gwen Stewart 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Jaline Tay downed Meredith Fenimore 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Madelyn Sanders and Eva Chevalier blanked Jennifer Behnke and Madison Unger 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Bull Dogs (9-4, 5-2). Shweta Srinivasan was leadeing Averie Shore 5-0 in the first set when Shore retired because of injury.

Columbus North’s Ali Bergman and Servane Cloteaux fell to Anna Dubois and Abby Hair 5-7, 6-1, (10-6) at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles edge Golden Arrows

SULLIVAN — Brown County pulled out a three-set win at No. 2 doubles to claim a 3-2 win at Sullivan in Friday’s Western Indiana Conference third-place match.

Hallee Miller beat Gabrielle Burkhart 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, and Cassidy Davis downed Allie Arnett 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (5-8). Baelyn Koester and Olivia Baughman topped Lydia Sharp and Annie Smith 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Brown County’s Julia Williams fell to Abbie Pirtle 7-6 (4), 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Jacey Ferguson and Leah Tucker lost to Janae Willis and Brooke Lueking 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.

Woodmen top Panthers

GREENWOOD — Greenwood used a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to pull out a 4-2 win against Jennings County.

The Panthers (9-7) had just tied the game in the top of the sixth on a two-run homer by Gabby Mahoney.

Raiders blank Cougars

VERSAILLES — South Decatur scored eight times in the first three innings Friday in handing South Decatur an 8-0 defeat.

Ben Stier went 2 for 2 for the Cougars (4-9). Carl Kroger went 2 for 3.

Panther girls win invite

RISING SUN — The Jennings County girls racked up 174 points to win Thursday’s Rising Sun Invitational. South Dearborn finished second with 110.

Alexis Harsh won the long jump (15 feet, 7¼ inches) and 100 meters (13.10 seconds), Mariah Grider took the shot put (34-9) and discus (109-10) and Emma Morrison captured the 1,600 (6:05.16) and 3,200 (13:05.52) to lead the Panthers. Other winners were Alana Daeger in the high jump (5-1), Izzy Daugherty in the 200 (27.32) and Taylor Hamilton, Sam Sproles, Daugherty and Harsh in the 4×100 relay (52.76).

The Jennings boys used mostly freshmen and sophomores and finished third with 73 points. Lawrenceburg won the 142, while South Dearborn was second with 122. The Panthers’ Jason Gasper, Ryan Gasper, A.J. Siener and Drew Stroud won the 4×800 relay (8:50.54).

Jackets sweep Cougars

MORRISTOWN — Morristown swept a dual meet with South Decatur on Thursday, 64-55 on the boys side and 63-56 in the girls meet.

Charlie Hamilton won the 110 hurdles (20.1) and 300 hurdles (51.0) and tied for first in the high jump (5-4), and Cole Bower won the 1,600 (5:31) and 3,200 (11:57). to lead the Cougar boys. Jacobi Shook captured the shot (38-4½), Colton Johannigman won the 100 (13.6) and South Decatur took the 4×100 relay (53.6).

For the girls, Lana Bell won the high jump (4-6), Bri Browder took the shot (25-10½) and Hannah Miller captured the 800 (2:57). The Cougars also won the 4×100 relay (56.9).
