1) I don’t know about you, but I use the wintertime as an excuse to eat an atrocious diet. Shame on me. I’ve run out of excuses, though, and have the perfect opportunity to increase the fresh produce in my life: The Downtown Farmers Market is back for the summer. The market, as you may remember, runs 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Saturday through Sept. 15. Located on Brown St. between Fifth and Eighth streets (across from Mill Race Park), in the Cummins parking lot, the market is open rain or shine. Information: facebook.com/columbusmarket.
2) For my parents’ 2017 birthdays, I got them each a DNA ancestry test kit. The results were nothing surprising, but they left me wondering how we could use them to find out more about the Eligs. On Saturday, representatives for the Central Indiana DNA Interest Group (CIDIG) will discuss how to add DNA tests to the genealogy toolkit from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus.
