GREENWOOD — No. 14-ranked Columbus North won four matches in straight sets in a 4-1 victory at Greenwood.

Yijiang Zhao beat Maddie Bright 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Jaline Tay downed Megan Johns 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (9-5). Madelyn Sanders and Eva Chevalier topped Alyssa Roscoe and Maecee Terhune 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Mariana Martinez and Cassidy May beat Brittney Mandabach and Ally Hussung 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

North’s Shweta Srinivasan fell to Emily Chatham 4-6, 6-4, (10-8) at No. 2 singles.

Jets edge Spartans

SHELBYVILLE — Hauser won both doubles matches, but Southwestern (Shelby) swept the singles to pull out a 3-2 Mid-Hoosier Conference win.

Abby Johnson and Sarah Tedder beat Talice Relieke and Abby Marshall 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Jets (7-4, 2-2). Kylie Lock and Melanie Taylor downed Shelbi Guy and Emma Engel 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Hauser’s Alana Owen fell to Jenna Kuntz 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Madie Sherman lost to Abby Sweet 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Maddy Archer fell to Hailey Bowman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Saints topple Lancers

INDIANAPOLIS — Edinburgh pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 doubles, but that was all in a 4-1 loss at Indianapolis Lutheran.

Haven Link and Destiney Ramey beat Haley Harris and Alexis Skojac 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles for the Lancers.

Haley Jones fell to Cici Zhao 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Sophia Parmer lost Maddie Awrey at No. 2 singles and Clara Carman fell to Elise Miller at No. 3 singles, both by 6-0, 6-2 scores. Katie Roberts and Anneliese Lollar lost to Alisha Zhang and Julia Peterson 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Royals top Bull Dogs

FISHERS — Parker Maddox threw a four-hitter, but Class 3A No. 9 Columbus North fell 3-1 at Hamilton Southeastern.

Tyler Finke went 2 for 3 with three stolen bases and scored the lone run for the Bull Dogs (14-7). Casper Clark had North’s only other hit.

Trinity is victorious

GREENWOOD — Trinity Lutheran scored in every inning in a 12-2, five-inning win at Greenwood Christian Academy.

Reid Kruse and Jack Marksberry each had three hits, and Lawson Woods, Jacob Crockett and Tyler Goecker all had two for the Cougars (11-7-1). Goecker had five RBIs, while Kruse added two.

Eagles nip Cougars

BLOOMINGTON — Emma Summers threw a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and homered in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie and give Brown County a 2-1 win at Bloomington North.

Aubrey Hollander had the other hit for the Eagles (13-3).

Columbus Christian falls

Columbus Christian outhit Horizon Christian 10-9, but committed 11 errors in a 19-6 loss.

Kayla Jones, Kayden Hofelich and Hannah Stair all went 2 for 4 for the Crusaders (2-4). Savannah Herron had two RBIs.

Owls rally past Lancers

SEYMOUR — Edinburgh led 3-0 after an inning-and-a-half, but Seymour scored eight times in the bottom of the second and went on to post a 17-3, five-inning win.

Maddi Clark and Vanessa McManaway combined to allow only seven hits, but the Lancers (11-6) committed seven errors. McManaway went 2 for 2, and Clark went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Trinity blanks Shawe

MADISON — Hannah Deaton and Morgan Gabbard combined on a one-hitter, and Trinity Lutheran pounded out 21 hits in an 11-0, five-inning win at Madison Shawe.

Jaryn Holtsclaw had four hits, while Jodi Goecker added three and Savannah Harweger, Emma Goecker, Deaton 2, Maddie Bell, Chloe Criswell and Gabbard all added two. Jodi Goecker, Genesis Munoz and Holtsclaw all had two RBIs.

TRACK AND FIELD

Eagles take third

GREENCASTLE — Brown County’s boys finished third in Thursday’s Western Indiana Conference meet. Edgewood won with 128½ points to 82 for Northview and 63½ for the Eagles.

Jackson McPheeters, Curtis Higgins, Marino Dolph and Wyatt Wyman won the 4×800-meter relay in 8 minutes, 7.72 seconds, capped by a 1:53 anchor split from Wyman. Wyman also finished second in the 1,600 (4:43.17), and McPheeters (1:59.40) and Wyman (1:59.88) took second and third in the 800. Dolph was second in the 3,200 (10:10.21).

On Tuesday, the Brown County girls finished fourth in the WIC meet. Greencastle won with 113 points to 98 for Edgewood, 72 for Northview and 63 for the Eagles.

Vivien Crimmins led Brown County with a win in the 100 hurdles (16.04) and a second in the 300 hurdles (49.52). Kathleen McCann finished second in the 200 (27.21), and Emma DeBord, Eme Koester, Maris Wyman and Anna Fleetwood were second in the 4×400 relay (10:37).
