Columbus student earns outstanding senior award
A Columbus student who recently graduated from Ball State University received the John R. Emens Outstanding Senior Award.
Mariann Fant received the award during Ball State’s commencement May 5. The honor is named after a former Ball State president.
The award recognizes the most outstanding senior student in honor of his or her cumulative record of co-curricular achievement, leadership and contributions to Ball State University as an undergraduate, according to the university.
Fant graduated from Ball State magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in communication studies in three years.
Express enrollment day set at Ivy Tech Columbus
Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus will have an express enrollment day Tuesday.
Express enrollment will be conducted at the campus, 4475 Central Ave., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. New Ivy Tech students may meet with an Ivy Tech representative to complete the enrollment process that includes the FYIvy video series, assessment, advising and class registration for the summer and/or fall semesters.

Ivy Tech gets accreditation for nursing programs
Ivy Tech Community College has received initial accreditation status for two of its nursing programs.
The college received the status for its associate of science in nursing and practical nursing programs from the National League for Nursing Commission. The accreditation status was granted for six years and will be in effect through Feb. 29, 2024.
Student graduates from Cedarville University
A Columbus native recently graduated from Cedarville University. Kyle Fathauer graduated from the university May 5 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
