Jets advance in tourney

RISING SUN — It took two days, but Class A No. 7 Hauser completed a 13-2, five-inning victory against Oldenburg Academy in the first round of the Rising Sun Sectional.

The Jets (18-5) led 6-0 in the second inning Monday night when rain and lightning forced the suspension of the game until Tuesday. They added two more runs in the second before putting up a run in the fourth and four in the fifth to finish off the victory.

Hauser will play North Decatur in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. today. South Decatur will meet Jac-Cen-Del in today’s second semifinal, and The championship game will be Thursday.

Stars oust Panthers

BEDFORD — Jennings County saw its season come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Bedford North Lawrence in the first round of the BNL Regional.

Lexi Brown went 2 for 3 with a double for the Panthers (12-13).

Warriors down Eagles

NASHVILLE —Parker VanNess won medalist honors with a 34, but Brown County fell to Whiteland 162-175 at Salt Creek.

Ben Rygiel carded a 44 for the Eagles. Brendon Asher added a 48, Curtis Lookebill shot 49, Peyton Proctor had a 53, Rex Watters and Jake Huddleston each shot 65 and Emerey Brock finished with a 68.

Twisters top Lancers

EDINBURGH — Bladen Hancock won medalist honors with a 37, but Edinburg fell to Oldenburg Academy 91-227 at Timbergate.

Darius Bennett added a 58 for the Lancers. Zach Burton shot 65, and Noah Childers had a 67.

Trinity Lutheran wins

GREENWOOD — Noah Criswell won medalist honors with a 43 to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 175-191 win against Greenwood Christian Academy at Bluff Creek.

Jacob Keith, Mark Shoemaker and Josiah Foster all shot 44 for the Cougars. Ryland Nierman added a 46.
