The Eighth Annual J.C. Brown Day free gospel concert will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday under a tent on the lawn of McDowell Education Center at the corner of McClure Road and McKinley Avenue.
Groups scheduled to perform are the nationally touring Alabama-based ensemble The Steeles, plus area groups The Daileys, Steve Griffin & Friends and the Brown Family.
Longtime Columbus resident J.C. Brown, who died seven years ago, was a nationally touring Southern gospel singer who launched the popular Gospel Music Week. It featured both local and national groups. For years, he also hosted the long-running gospel music radio show, “Hallelujah Turnpike.”
Organizers encourage people to bring a lawn chair. Food and beverages will be available.
