Duncan tied for 33rd after opening-round 69

Tyler Duncan fired an opening-round 1-under-par 69 Thursday and is tied for 33rd place in the Quicken Loans National at TPC Potomac.

Duncan, a 2008 Columbus North graduate, had three birdies and two bogeys. He shot 36 on the front nine and 33 on the back.

Andrew Landry and J.J. Spaun are tied for the lead at 7-under 63.

Former Bull Dogs tied for 7th in women’s amateur

Two former Columbus North golfers are tied for seventh going into the final round of the Indiana Women’s Amateur Championship at Hillview Country Club.

Danbi Kim, who will be a freshman at Bluffton, followed a first-round 77 with a 73 Thursday, and Tobi Herron followed a 74 with a 76 to sit at 6-over 150. Another North grad, Holly Anderson, will be a junior at Ball State, is tied for 16th at 153, while Nathaly Munnicha, who will be a sophomore at North, is tied for 35th at 158.

Kayla Benge of Plainfield leads the field at 2-under 142.
