A group of international Rotary Club members were greeted by local Rotarians as they rode through Columbus during the Race Across America.
With the aim of bicycling across the country, teams began their journey in Oceanside, California in mid-June and set off for Annapolis, Maryland.
One of the groups who took on the challenge was an international team of Rotarians raising money to combat polio.
To reach their destination by the target date of June 25, teams had to travel through 13 states and cover more than 3,000 miles.
The international team of Rotarians, which consisted of one American, Bob McKenzie, two Austrians, Markus Mayr and Ruth Brandstaetter, and one Italian, Kurt Matzler, passed through Columbus on June 21.
Ready to welcome them at the Robert Stewart Bridge were some members of the Rotary Club of Columbus, who had kept in touch with the team during their travels.
After departing Columbus, the team successfully completed the route and even broke a record for their group by completing the cross-country ride in six days, 18 hours and four minutes.
