Indiana Hustle holding baseball tryouts today

The Indiana Hustle 13-and-under baseball team will hold tryouts for its 2018-19 travel team at 5 p.m. today at the diamonds at Southside Elementary. Private tryouts also will be held by appointment.

Registration deadline approaching for city tennis

Noon Monday is the deadline to register for this year’s city tennis tournament. The junior tournament is Saturday and July 29, and the adult tournament is Saturday through Aug. 1.

Cost for the adult tournament is $20 for singles or $24 for doubles and includes a t-shirt. Cost for the junior tourney is $24 for the junior divisions or $20 for beginners and includes a t-shirt.

Central Middle School sets schedule for workouts

Central Middle School volleyball open gyms will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and tryouts will be July 30 and Aug. 1. Cross-country workouts are from 5 to 6:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the school. Boys tennis tryouts begin Aug. 8.

Central’s summer sports information can be found at cmschargers.com. Incoming seventh-grade and returning eighth-grade athletes and parents should check for information.

All 2018-2019 Central sports schedules have been updated. All student-athletes must have a completed IHSAA physical on file in the office before participation.

Columbus Youth Hockey to host Ritz Memorial

The Columbus Youth Hockey Bryan Ritz Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Check-in is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the driving range opens at 11:30 a.m. Dinner and awards will follow the golf outing.

Cost is $125 per individual or $400 per foursome, or $35 for dinner only. Sponsorships also are available.

Express soccer hosting skills camp, tryouts

Columbus Express Soccer Club is accepting registrations for boys and girls born between 2009 and 2012 for its academy and pre-academy programs.

The Academy at CESC is a development program for boys and girls born in 2009 and 2010 and includes training, futsal, 7v7 match play and tournaments in the fall, winter and spring. The pre-academy is for players born in 2011 and 2012 and features training sessions, 4×4 league play and tournaments in the fall and spring. CESC will hold supplemental tryouts for boys and girls born between 2000 and 2008 that were not able to attend the first tryouts from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex Field 8. Clinics, tryouts set for Northside boys tennis

Northside and St. Bartholomew boys entering seventh or eighth grade are invited to “Fun Tennis Clinics” from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Aug. 2 and 3 at the Lincoln Park tennis courts. Attendance is not required for those wanting to try out for the team.

Prospective players will, however, need to attend all three days of the tryouts, which will be from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Aug. 8 through 10. IHSAA physicals must be turned in by Aug. 8.

Flag football registration takes place next month

Registration for boys and girls flag football will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2, 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 4, noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 5, 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 11, noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 and 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 14 and 16 at Fair Oaks Mall.

Cost is $100 per person, with multiple-sibling discounts available. There also will be a camp Aug. 20 to 23.

Demand Command holding baseball, softball tryouts

The Demand Command and Indiana Blazers baseball organizations have merged and will hold open tryouts Aug. 4 at Columbus East High School from 10 to 11 a.m. for 8U and 9U, 11 a.m. to noon for 10U and 11U, noon to 1:30 p.m. for 12U and 13U, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for 14U and 15U and 4 to 6 p.m. for 16U and 17U.

Early registration is encouraged and available at http://tinyurl.com/dcbb2019. Registration forms also will be available on the day of the tryouts.

Players should arrive 30 minutes before their designated tryout time to stretch and warm up. A $10 administrative fee will be collected before a player is assessed. For more information, e-mail [email protected].

Demand Command also will be holding softball open tryouts Aug. 5 on Fields 5 and 6 at Lincoln Park. Times will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. for 8U and 10U, 2 to 3:30 p.m. for 12U and 14U and 4 to 5:30 p.m. for 16U.

Hoosier Pro Wrestling to hold show at fairgrounds

Hoosier Pro Wrestling will return to the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds for a show at 7:45 p.m. Aug. 4.

Tickets are $12, or free for children ages 4 and under.

Edinburgh basketball holding golf scramble

The Edinburgh Basketball Golf Scramble will be at 8 a.m. Aug. 11 at Timbergate Golf Course.

Cost is $60 per individual or $240 per team and includes greens fees, cart, range balls and lunch. There also will be a 50/50 and basket of goodies raffles and closest to the pin and skins contests.

Volleyball club to hold open gyms, tryouts

Hope Area Volleyball Club (HAVOC) will have two elite club teams this year.

HAVOC will host open gyms Oct. 7, 14 and 21 at Hauser High School. Tryouts will be Oct. 28 and Nov. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. for high school girls and from 3 to 5 p.m. for junior high girls.
