Despite some weather delays, only a few softball games are left to be played in the USSSA Great Lakes National Championship.

Heavy rain on Friday caused the cancelation of losers bracket games in all divisions and led to the movement of 18-and-under games from Ceraland to Lincoln Park. That division still has its semifinal and championship games to be played, beginning at 9:30 a.m. today.

One Columbus-based team reached the championship game in its division. Red Alert-Davidson beat Firestorm Fastpitch 8-3 and BGSL Bulldogs 4-3 on Saturday at Dunn Stadium before falling to Dirty Diamonds 16-2 in the 10U-C final.

BGSL Bulldogs had beaten Red Alert-Stogsdill 6-5 in the quarterfinals on Saturday morning, preventing a semifinal matchup between Red Alert teams. A third Red Alert team in that bracket, Red Alert-Fish, an 8U team playing in the 10U-C division, fell in the first round on Thursday.

Meanwhile, in the 14U-B division, another Red Alert team reached the semifinals at Clifty Park. The squad beat HTR 6-1 and Germantown 4-3 to reach the final four before falling to Geneva Foxes 4-1. The final will be at 9 a.m. today at Lincoln Park.

The other two local teams to compete in the tournament played in the 18U division. Southern Indiana Impact fell to Hit Away Davenport 3-2.

Hope-based Indiana Hustle-Nading fell to Velocity 11-4 in a game that began Friday morning at Ceraland and was completed Saturday morning at Lincoln Park because of unplayable fields at Ceraland.

The finals of the 16U division will be played at 10 a.m. today at Lincoln Park. Play in the 12U-C and 10U-B divisions were completed on Saturday.

A total of 159 teams were spread over the seven divisions, which began with pool play on Wednesday.
