While organizers of the Mill Race Marathon can’t control the weather, they can provide a financial incentive to entice new and returning runners to participate in the late-September races.
And that’s exactly what they intend to do this week during what organizers are calling Hype Day for the sixth annual event.
Registration for activities will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at a tent on the corner of 4th and Jackson streets, just across from the YES Cinema.
People who stop in will be rewarded with a $10 discount on their registration fee, as well as the opportunity to win one of three free entries for the 2019 event.
For the rest of August, that fee is $80 for the full 26.2-mile marathon, $65 for the 13.1-mile half marathon and $25 for the 5K. Beginning Sept. 1, those fee amounts will go up.
