Columbus firefighters were called to a fire in a manufactured home in Candlelight Village early Friday.
The fire was reported at 3:20 a.m. at 2837 Lamplight Drive after a neighbor spotted what he described as a light coming from a vacant home in the area.
The neighbor said he was walking his two dogs when he noticed what appeared to be a light in the window, and when returning home noticed that the light appeared to flicker. The neighbor then called 911, said Capt. Mike Wilson, Columbus Fire Department spokesman.
Smoke was coming from the home when firefighters arrived. Columbus police asked neighbors to be prepared for a possible evacuation. Firefighters went through the home’s locked front door and put the fire out, with the most significant damage found at the rear of the home, although there was smoke and heat damage throughout the structure, Wilson said.

Neighbors said the home had been vacant for about two months, Wilson said. Firefighters did find furnishings and property inside the home, which firefighters suspect was left by the previous tenant.
Damages are estimated at $20,000, Wilson said. No injuries were reported.
In addition to Columbus police, firefighters were assisted by Columbus Regional Health EMS, Columbus City Utilities, Vectren and Duke Energy.
