County jail security contract under consideration

Bartholomew County leaders will consider awarding a contract next week to install a new surveillance system in the Bartholomew County Jail.

The Bartholomew County Commissioners were set to review the matter during their meeting Monday. No action was taken, however, since the final contract with Indianapolis-based Security Automation Systems will be reviewed by county attorney Grant Tucker or Sheriff Matt Myers, Bartholomew County Commissioner Carl Lienhoop said.

In August, the county agreed that SAS would receive a $1,072,750 contract to install new equipment in an older and unused section of the jail, along with its work-release area.
