Roberts, 36, of Commiskey — were arrested and each booked into the Jennings County Jail on a preliminary charge of visiting a common nuisance (Class A misdemeanor). Both were being held in jail, Garrett on $1,155 cash bond and Roberts on a $605 cash bond, a jail official said.
At about 10:38 a.m. Sunday, Jennings County Sheriff’s deputy Cody Low attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a tan Buick Century on North Base Road near County Road 450N for a speeding violation. The driver, later identified as Brown, fled at a high rate of speed and continued northbound on North Base Road for several miles before crashing in the 6700 block of North Base Road, Mowery said.
After the vehicle came to a stop, Brown fled on foot. Low gave verbal commands to stop or he would release his K-9. Brown continued to flee and Low released K-9 Axel and pursued Brown on foot. Brown was apprehended by the police dog and Low in the middle of the Sand Creek River, Mowery said.
Brown was transported by Rescue 20 to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital for injuries from the K-9 apprehension and then released and transported to the jail, Mowery said.
The vehicle was reported stolen from North Vernon, Mowery said.
