Man accused of making threats with firearm at a local business

Columbus police arrested a local man after he was accused of making threats with a firearm at a local business.

Officers were sent to PMG, 1751 Arcadia Drive, at 5:50 a.m. Thursday about a man with an orange bandanna covering his face who was causing a disturbance and making threats with a firearm, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Officers identified the man as Keith P. Wilder, 40, of 3860 Silkwood Drive, Harris said, and arrested Wilder outside the building. Wilder is not an employee of PMG, Harris said.

Police said they believe the threats were being made against an employee inside the business, but there was no face-to-face contact between Wilder and the employee, Harris said.

When officers searched the area, they recovered a handgun wrapped in an orange bandana, Harris said.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported, Harris said.

PMG is an auto parts manufacturing facility located west of Columbus between Indianapolis Road and I-65.

Because of the immediacy of the call, Columbus police did not have time to activate the local SWAT team.

Harris said night shift officers exited their vehicles with patrol rifles, which are carried in their vehicles to be used in these types of calls, Harris said. Each officer goes through a patrol rifle course and must be certified to use the weapon in possible active shooter situations.

Wilder did not get into the PMG building at any time during the incident and was arrested by officers outside the manufacturing facility, police said.

Wilder was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and carrying a handgun without a permit, Harris said.

He was being held in the jail in lieu of $25,000 bond on Thursday, jail officials said.
