Rep. Pence supports $5.7 billion border security funding

COLUMBUS, Ind. — U.S. Rep. Greg Pence, R-Ind., said he supports President Donald Trump’s insistence on building a wall along the southern border of the United States for security reasons — an issue that has resulted in a stalemate between Republicans and Democrats and a partial government shutdown now in its 20th day.

“I’m supportive of his $5.7 billion border security funding,” Pence, a Columbus resident, said.

With about 800,000 federal employees affected by the shutdown, and facing the prospect of missing a paycheck Friday, Pence said he would suspend his pay during the shutdown.

“My thinking is to share the pain. Now it is affecting me as well,” Pence said.
