The Columbus North gymnasts didn’t reach the lofty scores that they put up in their past two meets, but Tuesday night’s performance was good enough to win the Conference Indiana meet in a landslide.
The second-ranked Bull Dogs put up a 108.275 team score. Bloomington North finished second with a 95.65, and Bloomington South was third with a 90.95.
"We had some issues, so it really wasn’t the meet we wanted to have right before sectional," North co-coach Bob Arthur said. "We need to be a little more crisp. We had some good things coming out of this meet, but overall as a team, I think we can do better."
The Bull Dogs took the top three spots in the all-around competition. Freshman Emily Moore led the way with a 37.225.

Moore just missed the conference record on the beam with a 9.7. She also won the vault (9.475) and bars (9.15) and finished second on the floor (8.9).
"I think I did really good on beam and vault, too, because I stuck both of them," Moore said. "But I had that fall on the floor."
Tova Edwards won the floor with a 9.2 and took second in the all-around with a 36.8. She was second on the vault (9.15), bars (9.1) and beam (9.35).
Alayne Davis finished third in the all-around with a 33.5. She took third on the vault (8.825) and fifth on the bars (7.825), beam (8.1) and floor (8.75).
Madi Edwards finished third in both of her events — the bars (8.2) and beam (8.35). Ashley Niebrugge took third on the floor (8.875) and fourth on the beam (8.225).
Emma Cooper, competing for the first time this season, placed fourth on the vault (8.675). Grace Ellis was sixth on the floor (8.175).
The Bull Dogs were about 2 1/2 points off the 110.825 they put up in last week’s win against Roncalli.
"It’s a little tougher judging, and we didn’t hit as well as we did," North co-coach Sandy Freshour said. "We threw a few new things in for some of the kids, and we’re still trying to work out what we want to do moving into the final weeks of the season. We could have done better, but we did know the judging was going to be a little tight, so we’re happy with where we finished."
