Imagine a TV version of “Rip Van Winkle.” Think of him as getting hit on the noggin with his iPod back in 2004 and just waking from a 15-year nap. Our Rip might completely miss the fact that the past decade and a half has seen a complete revolution in the way people consume media.
He might just resume his habit of watching “Trading Spaces”. (8 p.m. Saturday, TLC), Paige Davis hosts. Making the most of its retro appeal, “Spaces” asks its design team to spruce up two rooms in the spirit of the 1950s and the 1970s.
Not unlike our Rip, “Trading” took a little nap of its own and has only recently returned after a long hiatus. In many ways, it was the original “binge” show. Its old network, Discovery, would crowd the weekend hours with marathons of the series.
