Columbus Pride Festival returns Saturday

Rain or shine, rainbows are expected to stretch themselves all over the Bartholomew County Public Library plaza and Fifth Street from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday for the second Columbus Pride Festival.

The multi-colored Pride flag logo was seemingly everywhere at last year’s inaugural event that attracted an estimated 2,500 people on an initially overcast, rainy day. This year, the event is moving to a different location along two blocks of Fourth Street downtown to create more space.

Sarah Franklin, coordinating publicity for the free event’s organizing committee, figures the support to be even stronger this year.

“I certainly expect it to be as big, if not bigger than last year,” Franklin said.
