JASPER, FLORIDA
Mary Margaret Lane, 79, of Jasper, Florida, formerly of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:25 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper, Florida.
Mrs. Lane was born August 1, 1939, in Seymour, Indiana, the loving daughter of James A. and Zella Keith Laraway.
Mrs. Lane worked in the health care industry as an x-ray technician for many years.
Mrs. Lane liked gospel music; she, her late husband, Keith and some friends had a small group and they would sing at area nursing homes. She loved traveling, a couple of trips they took were to Washington state by train and also two trips to the Holy Land, which were her favorite.
Mrs. Lane is survived by her children, Cecile (Tim) Pettit of Columbus, Carol (Steve) McQueen of Ringgold, Georgia and Richard Fordice of North Vernon; stepchildren, Jeff (Debbie) Lane of Columbus, Connie Adams of Vevay, Doug (Julie) Lane of Madison, Marietta (Jack) Curran of Ripley County and Eddie Brandewiede of North Vernon; daughter-in-law, Christine Fordice of Hayden; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren .
Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her father, James A. Laraway; her mother and stepfather, Zella and Cecil Gehringer; her husbands, Virgil Joe Fordice, Joe Brandewiede and John Keith Lane; and a son, Joseph Michael Fordice.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be at Vernon Cemetery.
