Police find missing Columbus woman unharmed

Columbus police said they have found a missing woman unharmed after an intensive search and after Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert.

A tip from the public led to police finding Stephanie A. Hudak, 36, Columbus, at a rural Bartholomew County residence this afternoon, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

An investigation is continuing, Harris said.

Hudak was last seen at her residence on Tuesday night in the 200 block of South Brooks Street. She was believed to be in the company of Steven R. Burton, 41, Columbus. Police said Hudak and Burton were in a relationship, and recent threats of violence had been made by Burton against Hudak.

Investigators believe that Hudak went missing sometime overnight from her home and she was reported missing to police Wednesday morning.
