DNR encourages Hoosiers to ‘visit Indiana’

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is encouraging Hoosiers to ‘visit Indiana’ from May 5 to 11.

Visit Indiana Week, from the Indiana Office of Tourism Development, will offer events and prizes for residents to explore their home state.

On May 5, there will be free admission to state parks, state forest recreation areas and other areas. Discounts on kayaking are available at seven state properties on May 6, and state park inn restaurants will have discounts on May 7.

If you visit a state park and find a historic building on May 8, you are eligible for a drawing for a 2019 annual pass simply by posting a selfie photo of it that day on the state parks Facebook page. On May 9, a similar giveaway will be done for selfie photos with any state park waterfall.

A list of 11 activities under the Indiana Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights will be featured on May 10 at childrenplayoutdoors.dnr.in.gov.

On May 11, those who purchase a meal at any Indiana State Park Inn will receive a free slice of sugar cream pie, with a coupon at visitindiana.com/blog/index.php/2019/04/10/sweet-saturday/.
