Police arrest local woman on drug-related charges

Columbus police arrested a local woman on a warrant and drug possession charges after she was observed acting suspiciously around a Columbus home.

Police were sent to the 1000 block of Sycamore Street at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and spoke with a woman who identified herself as Hannah D. Hatton, 23, of 31 N. Beatty St.-4, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Police determined that Hatton had a local warrant for her arrest, Harris said. As Hatton was arrested, officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside her purse, Harris said. Officers also found methamphetamine that Hatton is accused of concealing in her clothing, Harris said.

Hatton was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and the Bartholomew County warrant, Harris said.

She was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $68,500 bond, jail officials said.
