Two arrested after North Vernon traffic stop

Evidence confiscated during a Wednesday traffic stop in North Vernon by the North Vernon Police Department.

NORTH VERNON — North Vernon police arrested two people after a traffic stop where methamphetamine and weapons were discovered in a vehicle.

North Vernon Officer Anthony Bagby made the traffic stop at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans and Hurly drives, police said. Bagby stopped a vehicle driven by Timothy Hulse, 37, North Vernon, police said.

Officers called K9 Officer Shane Trepanier and K9 Zobi, who alerted to the odor of a narcotic drug coming from inside the vehicle, police said.

When officers searched the vehicle, they found more than 22 grams of methamphetamine, 16 pills identified as a prescription Schedule 2 drug amphetamine, drug packaging materials, digital scales, two handguns, one shotgun and two rifles, police said.

Hulse was arrested on the following preliminary charges:

Level 4 felony dealing in methamphetamine

Level 5 felony dealing in a controlled substance

Level 4 felony serious violent felon in possession of a firearm

Class A misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia

He was being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $3,155 bond, jail officials said.

Carmen Hulse, 32, North Vernon, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on preliminary charges of Level 4 possession of methamphetamine and visiting a common nuisance. She was being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $3,155 bond, jail officials said.
