Deputies arrest Seymour woman on drug-related charges

JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff deputies arrested a Seymour woman after a vehicle chase early this morning.

Jennings County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cody Low attempted to stop a 2003 Green Saturn SUV on Country Manor near Stoningham Way for multiple traffic infractions at 3:06 a.m. Friday, said Chief Deputy David Turner.

Low activated his lights when attempting to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle did not stop. The driver, later identified as Meredith Miller, 27, Seymour, turned onto Rothshire Circle and attempted to elude Low, Turner said.

Miller then threw a bag from the vehicle and continued, Turner said.

Other deputies arrived to assist and Miller’s vehicle came to a stop, Turner said. Low sent his K9 Axel to the vehicle and gave verbal commands for the driver to exit the vehicle, Turner said. Miller complied and was taken into custody.

The bag that was thrown from the vehicle was located and found to contain multiple syringes, heroin and methamphetamine, Turner said.

Inside the vehicle, deputies located numerous syringes and other paraphernalia, Turner said. Miller was transported to the Jennings County Jail where she was remanded to jail staff on the following charges: Resisting Law Enforcement, Level 6 Felony; Possession of Syringe, Level 6 Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony; Possession of Controlled Substance, Level 6 Felony; Obstruction of Justice, Level 6 Felony; Reckless Driving, Class B-Misdemeanor and Possession of Paraphernalia Class A misdemeanor.
