A request to bend the city’s signage and setback rules for The Cole apartment complex downtown encountered public concern and was sent to the full Board of Zoning Appeals for a decision.

1994

Three city residents, admitting to setting several of more than 20 fires, were arrested during the investigation into an arson spree in Bartholomew, Jackson and Jennings counties.

Columbus real estate developer Donald Dilley reported North Vernon’s first major shopping center would be built in the spring on more than 100 acres at the intersection of State Roads 3 and 7 on the north edge of the Jennings County town.
