For a while, the idea of expanding the ever-popular Simmons Winery and 450 North Brewing Co. was a wish, which morphed into a dream and eventually became a plan.

And soon, for David and Brenda Simmons and their children, the dream of expanding the family’s successful pizza restaurant and brewpub, winery and brewing operation into a spacious and specially-designed all-in-one new structure is about to come true.

Columbus’ Simmons Winery and 450 North Brewing Co., a long-time favorite destination for local folks who enjoy craft beer, fine wine and pizza from brick ovens, will be moving to its new location around the end of October.

But for those worrying about finding their favorite spot that has been tucked between the corn and soybean fields along County Road 450N, there is no need — the Simmons family has built a more than 8,000-square-foot building just to the west of its current facility that will house a restaurant, craft brewery and wine tasting room more than double the size of the current building.

“So far, so good,” David Simmons said as he walked through the soon-to-be finished facility, built by Driftwood Builders.

Planned since 2018, and under construction since March, the new winery and brewing company offers expansive room when compared to the current facility, and has allowed the family to install new brewing equipment that will be visible from the dining room.
