Night lane closures planned for I-65 construction zone

Nightly lane closures are scheduled to begin on northbound and southbound I-65 beginning Friday for lane and shoulder resurfacing from mile marker 64.5 to 65.

Work will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each evening as part of the I-65 reconstruction and added travel lanes project in Jackson and Bartholomew counties.

Lane closures are scheduled as follows and will allow crews to mill and pave both travel lanes and shoulders in the area.

  • Friday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Lane closures from mile marker 64.5 to mile marker 65, travel lanes milling/paving
  • Monday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Lane closures from mile marker 64.5 to mile marker 65, travel lanes milling/paving
  • Tuesday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Lane closures from mile marker 64.5 to mile marker 65, travel lanes milling/paving

Motorists should continue to adhere to the 55 mph speed restriction and use extra caution in the ongoing construction zone between Columbus and Seymour. All trucks should use the left lane for travel.

The project is expected to be complete by August 2020. All work is weather dependent.
